The wine fraternity Commanderie des Nobles Vins du Jura et du Comté cultivates wine and cheese enjoyment in the Jura wine- growing region . The area of ​​responsibility for wine amounts to an area of ​​1850 hectares with over 200 farms on which five varieties are cultivated: Arbois, Château-Chalon, L'Etoile, Côtes du Jura, Jura Macvin, Crémant du Jura. The representatives of the cheese specialists also represent around 200 member companies from Franche-Comté that only meet the AOC standard. The task of the Commanderie is to accompany the image cultivation of wine and cheese and to taste them at social events.

history

The Commanderie des Nobles Vins du Jura et du Comté was founded on May 21, 1966. Initially, the association consisted of 15 members who belonged to various social interest groups, but who all wanted to promote the reputation of the wine of the Jura region. Today all members elect the 15-member "Grand Conseil", which in turn elects the president of the association. The members are now mainly recruited from winemakers, farmers, cattle breeders, cheesemakers and master distillers. They represent a kind of lobbying group. The current president is Bernard Legrand.

Enthronement

Traditionally, the enthronement takes place every year on the last Saturday in October. In the first forty years the Wine Brotherhood honored over 1,860 people as "ambassadors of the region", including Jacques Chirac , Karl Zéro (* 1961), Jacques Duhamel (1924–1977), Edgar Faure , Dominique Voynet , Lio , Pierre Perret , Henri Salvador and Raymond Forni . This enthronement takes place through a public ceremony at which the oath is taken on the charter of the Commandery. The “ambassador” receives a parchment certificate and a medal.
