Pierre Perret (born July 9, 1934 in Castelsarrasin ) is a French author and singer .

Life

His parents ran a café where he spent most of his childhood. There he learned countless expressions of crooks language and the jargon of various professions.

In 1948 he attended the Conservatory of Toulouse and also inscribed in the drama school. At this time he founded a small orchestra that performed at all kinds of events in the region.

In 1958, Perret joins the tours of Parisian cabarets and furrows the streets of France and Africa as the opening act for the American group The Platters . In November of the same year, a kidnapped infection forced him to stay in a sanatorium for almost two years.

Perret is married to Simone Mazaltarim.

Using the subtleties of the French language and a sloppy expression, his chansons ask questions in a childlike, ostensibly naive tone, with a malicious smile, but always binding. His chansons are sometimes politically active, especially the youngest ones, including La bête est revenue , La petite kurde , Vert de Colère ou Lily .

His repertoire ranges from children's songs to comical and erotic to politically committed songs full of humor and tenderness. Pierre Perret, a legend of French chanson, is also considered an outstanding poet.
