CommuniGate Pro is a proprietary groupware , which is also available in a shareware version with a limited number of clients .
CommuniGate Systems was founded in 1991 with the aim of developing a versatile and scalable solution for communication over the Internet. The headquarters are in Mill Valley, California . The company has over 12,000 customers worldwide, with over 130 million end customers using the products.
Functions
CommuniGate Pro supports different platforms. Thereby u. a. supports the following functions and services:
- Mail transfer ( SMTP , LMTP , mailing lists)
- Signaling ( SIP , XMPP , Simple Notification)
- Data access ( IMAP , MAPI , POP3 and RPOP , FTP and TFTP , ACAP , Webmail, ActiveSync , AirSync )
- Groupware ( calendar and tasks , contacts )
- Services ( HTTP , LDAP , SNMP , RADIUS , CalDAV , SSL )
- Communication ( VoIP , instant messaging , voice mail )

Email clients
The Communigate Pro Server supports a large number of common e-mail clients, including Thunderbird , Apple Mail , and many more. Microsoft Outlook is supported by a free MAPI driver.
Access via a webmail client is also possible; this can be adapted to the respective needs using various skins. The Flash- based mail client Pronto! whose design is very much based on Microsoft Outlook.
Updates and backups
New versions are installed by simply "installing" the new version; the account data and settings are not overwritten. The server only has to be restarted after successful installation.
It is possible to create backups during operation. The complete installation folder is copied for this.
