Communote
Communote is a Java- based free communication solution for project and team-oriented companies. The microblogging tool was released in December 2008. The difference to public microblogging services such as B. Twitter is that Communote focuses on internal use in companies. Similar to Twitter, users can share messages about their current activities with their colleagues.
In June 2016 the source code of Communote was published freely on GitHub ( Apache License , Version 2.0).
Functions
Communote is available in version 3.1 and offers the following functions:

- Follow information (users, blogs, tags)
- Blogs for communication on topics and projects
- Rights and group management
- Tagging (#tag)
- Notification of users (@user)
- Inline video (YouTube, Vimeo), inline images of attachments
- Attachments and links
- Email integration, XMPP , RSS
- Logo and design adjustments
- Integration in Microsoft SharePoint and Atlassian Confluence
- LDAP authentication, SSL encryption , HTTPS , IP ranges
- Mobile access with iPhone , Android and Blackberry
- Emoticons
The tool is available as an online service and as an in-house installation.

In contrast to current Web 2.0 applications, including other microblogging tools, Communote is based on Java EE technology and was developed according to a classic software engineering approach.
Companies
Communote was initially developed by Communardo Software GmbH from Dresden. Communardo Software GmbH is a provider of software solutions for optimizing communication and collaboration in teams, projects and companies. Communote GmbH has existed since the beginning of 2012 and focuses exclusively on the further development and marketing of Communote.
