The Comrie Old Parish Church is a church building in the Scottish village of Comrie in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. In addition, it is part of a category B monument ensemble with various surrounding buildings.

history

The Comrie Old Parish Church was built for the Church of Scotland in 1805 to a design by the Perth architect John Stewart . With the Scottish church schism and the establishment of the Free Church of Scotland , the congregation of the Free Church had its own church building in Comrie built in 1881, which is now called Comrie and Strowan Parish Church . With the merger of the two church organizations in 1929, two parishes of the Church of Scotland in Comrie were created. After the name of the new parish, the name "Comrie Old Parish Church" has been common. In 1964 the congregation of the Old Parish Church merged with another congregation, the location of which has since been used as a parish church . This made the Comrie Old Parish Church obsolete and has been used as a community hall ever since.
