The River Earn ( Scottish Gaelic : Uisge Eireann ) in Scotland flows out of Loch Earn at St Fillans and through Strathearn , then east and south until it flows into the Tay at Abernethy . The Earn is approximately 74 km long and flows through Comrie , Crieff and Bridge of Earn . The Farg River flows into the Earn .

The river flows very quickly, has many shallows and is not navigable even for small boats. The land around it is flat and occasionally flooded. The earn is popular with anglers; a fishing license is usually required. Close to the earn was the old Roman camp Strageath , which they had built on their advance to the north.
