Conashaugh
Conashaugh is an extinct city ( ghost town ) in Delaware Township , Pike County , Pennsylvania . It is located near Dingmans Ferry on the Delaware River . The first settlement took place by deserters of the Civil War . The name comes from the Conasauga region on the border of Tennessee and Georgia . The name is derived from the Cherokee word "kanesaga", which means "grass". There was a well or spring house that burned down in 1917. There was also a post office.
Today the former site is part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area .
