The Conesa Point ( Spanish Punta Conesa , in Chile Punta María [Pilar] ) is a headland on the Danco coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Paradise Harbor it marks the southern boundary of the entrance to Leith Cove and the northern boundary of the entrance to Porphyry Cove .
Argentine scientists named them after Emilio Conesa (1821–1873), an Argentine general in the Triple Alliance War (1864–1870). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1978. Scientists from the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951), on the other hand, apparently named it after a family member of one of the expedition members.
