The Conofeeder 300 is a feeder container ship type.

history

The series was designed in the mid-1990s by the marine engineering office Conoship International in Gronigen as a further development of the Conofeeder 200 type . The type was built from 1997 onwards at the Dutch shipyards Tille Scheepsbouw in Kootstertille and Niestern Sander in Delfzijl for various shipping companies. The ship type was primarily designed for feeder services, but depending on the construction variant, it is also used on various multi-purpose, container and project cargo services as well as in global tramp travel . The design received several awards from the trade press.

One of the ships, the Iran Shahed , gained greater notoriety in May 2015 for its use as an auxiliary ship for Yemen.

technology

The series was built in two variants with and without its own loading gear, with the basic type being designed without cranes. The individual box-shaped loading space with a grain volume of 4167 m³ is equipped for the transport of containers and the transport of dangerous goods containers. The standard equipment with Cellguides was dispensed with. Due to the shape of the holds, this type of ship can also be used in bulk goods, cellulose or parcel wood transport. In addition, the tank roof is reinforced for stowing heavy goods . Hydraulically operated folding hatch covers reinforced with heavy cargo were used. The hold can be divided by using bulkheads and tween decks. Some units have been equipped with two 40-tonne cranes attached to port, which can be operated coupled and allow the transfer of heavy lift and project cargoes up to 80 tons.

The ships of the series are powered by a Wärtsilä four-stroke diesel engine that acts on a controllable pitch propeller . The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .

The hulls were assembled in sectional construction.
