Conor Glynn Shaughnessy (born June 30, 1996 in Galway ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Leeds United . His older brother Joe Shaughnessy is also a professional footballer.

Career

Conor Shaughnessy began his career in his native Galway with Salthill Devon and Mervue United. In 2012 he moved to Reading FC in England . During his youth, Shaughnessy moved to Leeds United four years later . The central defender played in the club's U-23 team from 2016 to 2017. He made his professional debut for Leeds on August 6, 2017 in the 2nd division against Bolton Wanderers when he was substituted on for Matthew Pennington . Three days later he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the league cup game against Port Vale . Then he was also in the league in the game against Fulham in the first team. Shortly thereafter, the contract was extended for four years. By January 2018, Shaughnessy had played nine league games before sustaining a serious ankle injury in the game against Hull City on January 30, 2018. In the 2018/19 season he only played one game in the League Cup against Preston North End under Marcelo Bielsa in August 2018. As a result, he was loaned to Heart of Midlothian to Scotland in January 2019 .
