Conrad Biermann von Ehrenschild (born August 1, 1629 in Eimeldingen , † April 24, 1698 in Hamburg ) was a German-Danish politician, holder of the Dannebrog Order and Landdrost ( district administrator ) of the Pinneberg rule . He was the progenitor of the noble family "Biermann von Ehrenschild".

Life

Biermann was born in Eimeldingen and came to Poland with the French diplomat Charles d'Avaugour and later to Denmark with his successor, Hugues Chevalier de Terlon, and went into Danish service in 1661. He proved to be an open-minded officer and skilled negotiator and was needed by the royal Danish government at several important embassies. During the Northern War he succeeded Christian V of Denmark and Norway and was one of the peace brokers in 1679. In 1677 he became a minister and in 1681 was made a knight of the Order of Dannebrog . On October 29, 1681 he was raised to the Danish nobility and given the name "von Ehrenschild". In 1689 he was Landdrost of the Pinneberg rule and died in Hamburg in 1698. He found his final resting place in St. Peter's Church in Copenhagen .

Conrad Biermann von Ehrenschild was married to Anna Knoff (1647–1669), from this marriage the children came:

With the death of his son Martin Conrad in 1715, the male line immediately died out again. The two sisters married and took different surnames. Anna Maria was the last of this family to die in 1729.

The assumption by some that Conrad Biermann von Ehrenschild (around 1715) belonged to the Silesian family of the same name "von Ehrenschild" turned out to be wrong. He came from Switzerland and was a son of Martin Biermann, pastor of Baden, from his marriage to Barbara Stocker, who had descended from a respected Basel family.
