Conrad Gerle (* around 1440 ; † December 4, 1521 in Nuremberg ) was the oldest known German lute maker .

Gerle was already famous for his instruments as a Nuremberg lute maker around 1469. They were in great demand and were highly praised in France as "Lutz d'Allemaign" or "Luths d'Allemagne" (lutes from Germany). Charles the Bold ordered three such lutes for his lute players from the German merchant Holhans for 52 livres and 10 sols. Gerle died on December 4, 1521 and was buried in the cemetery of St. Rochuskirche.

He was probably the father of the lutenist Hans Gerle .
