Conrad Heyer (born April 10, 1749 in Waldoboro ; † February 19, 1856 ibid) was an American farmer and veteran of the American Revolutionary War . He is considered to be one of the earliest born people to be photographed alive.

Life

Conrad Heyer was the first child who was born in Waldoboro - at that time still Broad Bay Plantaion . He was the child of German emigrants from the Rhineland . During the American Revolutionary War, Heyer fought for the Continental Army under George Washington and returned from it in December 1776. From then on he worked as a farmer in Waldoboro.

In 1852, at the age of 103, Heyer posed for a daguerreotype portrait . With this picture he is considered to be one of the earliest born people who were photographed alive and whose picture still exists.

Conrad Heyer died on February 19, 1856 at the age of 106. He was buried with full military honors.
