Conrad Melchior Hirzel

Conrad Melchior Hirzel (born August 31, 1793 in Zurich ; † July 9, 1843 there ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

biography

Conrad Melchior Hirzel studied at the University of Heidelberg Law . In 1811 he became a member of the Corps Helvetia Heidelberg. After completing his studies, he was admitted to the bar in 1815 and in 1818 became secretary of the government commission for the judiciary and police, notary and lawyers of Zurich. In 1823 he became senior bailiff in Knonau .

As a politician, he was a member of the Zurich Grand Council from 1825 to 1839 and was a Zurich Government Councilor from 1831 to 1839 . He headed the cantonal government from 1832 to 1839 as mayor. From 1831 he was a member of the commission for a federal constitution. In 1831 he was envoy of the Canton of Zurich to the extraordinary assembly and in 1834 President of the assembly. In 1832 he represented Zurich on the Revision Commission.

For his services to the Zurich Greek Association, Conrad Melchior Hirzel received the Hellenic honorary citizenship.
