Conrad von der Goltz

Conrad von der Goltz (born June 18, 1928 in Berlin ) is a German violinist .

Life

Conrad von der Goltz received his first lessons in his hometown Berlin and as a refugee child in Salzburg. His family lived in Sweden during World War II . In 1945, at the age of 17, he played in the Detmold Municipal Orchestra. From 1948 he studied first in Hamburg and then in Detmold with Tibor Varga , and took part in master classes with Max Rostal and Wolfgang Schneiderhan .

After graduating, he became concert master in Göttingen. In 1956 he was a winner of the ARD competition in the duo category. This was followed by a position as concertmaster with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, then as 1st concertmaster with the Bremen Philharmonic State Orchestra and as a guest at the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden . In 1963 he became a professor at the University of Music in Würzburg . Here he was particularly committed to instrumental early intervention . Conrad von der Goltz is now (2018) professor with the subject violin at the University for Catholic Church Music & Music Education ( HfKM ) in Regensburg in the field of young students.

He is a member of the Brahms Trio, the German-English Mozart Ensemble and the von der Goltz Chamber Orchestra.

He was married to the pianist Kirsti Hjort (1931–1990); her children are the pianist Christian von der Goltz (* 1959), the violinist Gottfried von der Goltz (* 1964) and the cellist Kristin von der Goltz (* 1966).
