Christian von der Goltz
Christian von der Goltz (* 1959 in Bremen ) is a German jazz musician (piano, composition, arrangement).
Live and act
Goltz grew up in a musical family; his parents are the violinist Conrad von der Goltz and the Norwegian pianist Kirsti Hjort ; his younger siblings are the classical violinist Gottfried von der Goltz and the cellist Kristin von der Goltz . At the age of five he received classical piano lessons from Lotte Kliebert in Würzburg and later from Liv Heiberg in Oslo. At 14, he discovered jazz and devoted himself an autodidact the jazz piano . In 1978 he played in the first bands in Würzburg, including in a duo and trio with Rudi Engel . In 1980 he moved to Berlin to study painting at the University of the Arts under Marwan .
After private lessons with Walter Norris , there were sessions and bands with u. a. Walter Gauchel , Grégoire Peters , Ulli Bartel, Michael Clifton, Costa Lukacs and Ugonna Okegwo . In 1994 he founded a trio with Michael Griener and Stefan Weeke , which released his debut album Sophie Said on Mons Records in 1997. He also accompanies the singers Dotschy Reinhardt and Miriam Netti. His CvdG project includes the trumpeter Martin Klingeberg , the saxophonist Henrik Walsdorff , the bass clarinetist Rudi Mahall , the bassist Jan Roder and the drummer Kay Lübke. Together with Rolf Kühn , he presented the crossover production Bach Goes to Town in Birdland Neuburg as a duo . He can also be heard on albums with David Rose, Emanuele Cisi and Vladimir Karparov .
Since 1995 Goltz has been a lecturer for piano at the Liszt School of Music Weimar ; since 2011 he has been a lecturer there.
