Emanuele Cisi (* 29. May 1964 in Turin ) is an Italian jazz - saxophonist .

Act

Cisi was a student of Michael Brecker . He began his professional career as a member of the Area group , with whom he toured, performed at festivals and broadcasts, and made records. In 1990 he went to Milan, where he a. a. worked with Antonio Faraò , Luigi Bonafede and Massimo Colombo and founded his first own quartet in 1994 with Paolo Birro , Marco Micheli and Francesco Sotgiu . For his first own album he received first prize at the top jazz competition in 1995 as Miglior nuovo Talento .

In 1996 he recorded an album for Blue Note Records with Jean-Pierre Como's band in Paris and began working with drummer Daniel Humair . In the same year he founded the quintet Five of Jazz with Luigi Bonafede (with Flavio Boltro , Francesco Sotgiu and Rosario Bonaccorso ), with whom he also recorded an album.

Since 1999 Cisi has lived mainly in France. He recorded his first album under his own name in France in 2000 with Aldo Romano and Paolo Fresu . In the same year he founded the group Changes (with Stefano Battaglia , Piero Leveratto and Fabrizio Sferra ). During this time he also worked in a duo with Paolo Birro , in trio formations with Daniel Humair and Paolino Dalla Porta and with Zlatko Kaucic and Nicola Muresu , as well as in a quartet with Nathalie Loriers , Rémi Vignolo and Aldo Romano (with Nguyên Lê and Michel Benita as guests).

From 2001 to 2004 he was a member of Romano's group Because of Bechet (with Emmanuel Bex , Rémi Vignolo and Francesco Bearzatti ), with whom he recorded an album and toured France and Réunion (2004). In addition, he worked a. a. with Jean-Marc Jafet , Jean-Paul Ceccarelli , Robert Persi , Christian Escoudé , Babik Reinhardt and Marcia Maria and with the quintet by François Chassagnite . In 2002 he toured Slovenia with Zlatko Kaucic and Nicola Muresu.

In 2004 he founded a new quartet with Paolo Birro, Yoann Serra and Simone Monnanni .
