Rudi Engel

Rudi Engel (* 1957 ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Engel studied at the music academies in Würzburg and Frankfurt and completed workshops with Ron Carter , Barre Phillips , Ron McClure and Rufus Reid .

He belonged to the groups of Bernhard Pichl , Tine Schneider and Dieter Köhnlein , as well as to the big band of Russ Spiegel and the quartet of Ernie Watts . Highly concentrated playing, intensive musical communication and gnarled, blues-laden solos made him the companion of Ack van Rooyen , Jorge Rossy , Tony Lakatos , Leszek Zadlo , Benny Bailey , Bob Mintzer , Bobby Shew , Dusko Goykovich , Bob Mintzer, Javon Jackson , Wolfgang Lackerschmid , Charlie Mariano , Roman Schwaller , Karl Berger and Joan Faulkner . He toured North America with vibraphonist Bill Molenhof . He is also featured on albums by WüTrio , Dusko Goykovich / Scott Hamilton , Sabine Kühlich / Sheila Jordan , Nicole Metzger and Annette Neuffer .

Engel is also a lecturer in jazz bass at music colleges in Würzburg and Nuremberg.
