Constant-Joseph Brochart
Constant-Joseph Brochart (born April 7, 1816 in Lille , † May 7, 1899 in Paris ) was a French genre and portrait painter as well as an art teacher.
He studied at the Art School in Lille and then came to Paris, where he exhibited his works in various salons between 1845 and 1862.
Brochart was appointed professor of drawing at the Madrid Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in 1867 .
Brochart mainly painted portraits of women, mostly in oval frames, and genre scenes, some of them from the North African milieu. He portrayed a. a. People from the Parisian elite, such as the Swedish singer Christine Nilsson from the Théâtre Lyrique and Baron Georges-Eugène Haussmann .
