Constant de Muyser

Constant de Muyser (born August 20, 1851 in Luxembourg (city) , † June 19, 1902 in Cologne ) was a Luxembourg railway engineer, industrialist and numismatist.

Life

Constant de Muyser attended the Athenaeum in Luxembourg. He then studied engineering from 1873 to 1876 at the Polytechnic School in Aachen . At the beginning of his studies he became a member of the Academic Association of Chemists and Metallurgists at the Polytechnic School in Aachen , later the Corps Montania in Aachen . After graduating, he initially took a position at the Hollerich rolling mill. In 1878 he moved to the Prince Heinrich Railway Company in Pétange , where he was "Chef de service de la traction et du matériel" from 1888 until his death. In 1896 he was a founding partner of the iron and steel works in Differdange , the Société Anonyme des Hauts-Fourneaux de Differdange .

In 1884 he published a topographical map of the Luxembourg iron ore basin created together with A. Kaufeld. As a numismatist, he brought together a collection of around 470 Luxembourg coins, the oldest of which date back to 1136.

As an academic mentor, he helped found the pennalen  Landsmannschaft  Amicitia in the Luxembourg district of Pfaffenthal in 1890 and in 1897 in the founding of the Landsmannschaftlichen academic association "d'Lëtzebuerger" Aachen .
