Georg Spalatin : Heinrich III. with his first wife Constantia

Constantia (Konstanze) (* May 6, 1212 ; † before June 5, 1243 ) was the daughter of Leopold VI. of Austria from the Babenberg family .

On May 1, 1234, she was married to Heinrich the Illuminated (~ 1215–1288), Margrave of Meissen. The wedding took place near Vienna and not in the old Hofburg . It is believed that the renovation of the Hofburg was not yet completed or that it was too small. Three sources provide information about the wedding itself. Two of them report that the wedding took place in campo inuxta Stadelowe , i.e. Stadlau . The third source reports from the wedding in aput Ringlinse , which has come off and was used instead of today's Floridsdorf . The two sources that state Stadlau also report the guests who appeared for the wedding. The kings of Hungary and Bohemia, the archbishop of Salzburg, the bishops of Passau, Bamberg, Freising and Seckau were present. From the secular nobility, the Margrave of Moravia, the Dukes of Saxony and Carinthia and the Landgrave of Thuringia were also present. The list of these guests suggests the great importance of the Babenberg duke.

Her sons with Heinrich were Albrecht the Degenerate (1240-1314) and Dietrich von Landsberg (1242-1285). She died in 1243.

In 1910 the Konstanziagasse in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after her.
