Constantin Bachas

Constantin Petros Bachas (* 1956 ) is a French theoretical physicist who deals with string theory and related fields.

Bachas studied at Princeton University , where he received his PhD from Curtis Callan in 1983 (Extended Lattice Actions: Phase Transitions and the QCD Renormalized Trajectory). Afterwards he was at SLAC , at the École polytechnique and at CERN . In 1998 he became director of research at the CNRS in Paris. He is at the Laboratory for Theoretical Physics of the École normal supérieure .

In 2010 he received the Gay Lussac Humboldt Prize . In 2011 he received the Humboldt Research Award .
