Elias Kiritsis (born September 20, 1962 in Fourna ) is a Greek theoretical physicist who studies cosmology , gauge theories , supersymmetry , string theory and related fields.

Life

Kiritsis graduated from the National University of Athens in 1984 with an intermediate diploma and received his PhD from Caltech in 1988 with John Preskill . As a post-doctoral student he was at the University of California, Berkeley and at the École normal supérieure . From 1992 to 1998 he was in the theory department of CERN . In 1998 he became a professor at the University of Crete .

Most recently, he has dealt with holographic string theory-gauge theory dualities with application to QCD and solid-state physics.

He was research director of the CNRS at the École polytechnique and the University of Paris VII , visiting professor at the Erwin Schrödinger Institute in Vienna and at the Kavli Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara .
