Constantin Samhaber
Constantin Samhaber (* 1861 in Aschaffenburg ; † 1941 there ) was a German photographer and postcard publisher . He worked in Aschaffenburg.
Life
Constantin Samhaber was the eldest son of the photographer Joseph Samhaber and was the only child from his first marriage to Anna Margaretha Constantina Samhaber, nee. Stenger. After her death, Joseph Samhaber married the sister of his first wife, with whom he had several other children, including the sons Franz and Otto Samhaber .
Constantin Samhaber took over his father's photo studio in 1892. On March 11, 1898, he became a royal Bavarian court photographer. At times he ran the studio together with Albert Kämmer , who had come to Aschaffenburg from Berlin , under the name of “Hofphotograph Samhaber & Kämmer”. In 1908 the Photographische Chronik reported that he had withdrawn from this company and that Kämmer would continue to run it as “Samhaber & Kämmer”. But as early as 1910, Kämmer went to Mainz , where he ran a photo studio at Große Bleiche 24 and opened the Capitol cinema in 1933 , and Samhaber took over the studio again to continue it under the name of “Hofphotograph C. Samhaber formerly Samhaber & Kämmer”. In 1936, a few years before Samhaber's death, the employee Otto Hesse took over the studio, which was initially moved to Steingasse 20 and later to Steingasse 17 in Aschaffenburg. It is still owned by descendants of Hesse.
