Constantin S. Teleman (* in Romania ) is a Romanian-American mathematician. He deals with algebraic geometry and algebraic topology , Lie groups and loop groups and their representations and connections to mathematical physics ( quantum field theory ).

Teleman studied from 1987 at Harvard University (in the same year he was a Putnam Fellow) with a master’s degree in 1991 and he received his doctorate there in 1994 with Raoul Bott (and Graeme Segal , with whom he was at Cambridge University ) (Lie Algebra Cohomology and the Fusion Rules). He was then Szegö Assistant Professor at Stanford University and Research Fellow at St. John's College, Cambridge University. In 1999 he became Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and in 2001 Lecturer and 2003 Reader at St. John's College in Cambridge. In 2007 he became a professor at the University of Edinburgh . He's a professor at Berkeley.

In 2002 he received the Whitehead Prize (for contributions to the representation theory of infinite-dimensional groups, especially loop groups) and in 2015 the Senior Berwick Prize with Daniel Freed and Michael J. Hopkins for their essay Loop groups and twisted K-theory . It shows the isomorphism of the twisted equivariant K-theory of a compact Lie group to the Verlinde algebra of its loop group . In 2014 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Seoul.

He should not be confused with Kostake Teleman , also cited as C. Teleman.
