Cookies is a cooperative children's game by game designer Hartmut Kommerell . The game is designed for two to five players, ages five and up, and will be available from HUCH! published for the Nuremberg Toy Fair .

Theme and equipment

The game is about the players having to produce and bake cookies together before the game period of four hours has expired.

The game material consists of the game instructions

  • a three-dimensional oven,
  • two baking sheets,
  • 36 biscuits, each new as stars, hearts, flowers and circles,
  • 36 crumble chips,
  • three dice,
  • a clock with hour and minute hands, and
  • an alarm stone

Style of play

Before starting the game, the various elements of the game are set up. To do this, the three-dimensional oven is put together and locked by the degree indicator. The two baking trays are placed in the middle of the game and the biscuits are sorted by shape and placed ready with the sprinkles. The clock is equipped with the minute and hour hands and is also placed in the play area, together with the alarm stone. The selected starting player receives the three dice.

Clock as a timer

The game is played clockwise, with all players forming a team and coordinating accordingly. The player whose turn it is in each case throws all three dice and may either use them according to the throw

  • place cut biscuits on a tray,
  • Place sprinkles on cookies that are already on the table, or
  • nibble on the cookies.

If the player decides to put biscuits on the baking tray, he may put as many biscuits of a selected shape on his dice as he threw the dice. However, only one type of biscuit may be placed on each of the two trays. If the player has thrown sprinkles and chooses to do so, he may place two sprinkle tokens for each sprinkled sprinkle symbol on cookies that are already on a baking sheet. If a player cannot put the right biscuits or crumbles, he has to snack and accordingly takes a biscuit from the tray. Basically, the player has to move the minute hand of the clock one space forward for each dice that is not used directly in the action. He does not have to do this if he is nibbling a biscuit or if he wanted to carry out an action, but there are not enough biscuits or sprinkles left in the supply. Whenever the minute hand lands on 12, the hour hand advances one space.

As soon as a baking sheet is completely covered with biscuits of one type and sprinkles, it is placed in the oven. Only one tray may be in the oven at a time. In addition, the clock is set by placing the alarm stone on the next free field of the color on which the minute hand is currently located. When the minute hand reaches the alarm stone, the biscuits are ready and can be removed from the oven. The biscuits are removed from the tray and the tray can now be used for the next type of biscuit.

The players win the game if they put the last sheet in the oven before the hour hand has advanced to the fourth space. If four hours have elapsed and not all the cookies are baked or at least in the oven, you lose the game. More experienced or older players can score plus points for each missing field on the minute hand at the end of a game they have won, or minus points for any missing cookies at the end of a lost game.
