Lawrence Worthington Parsons

Sir Lawrence Worthington Parsons , KCB (March 23, 1850 - August 20, 1923 ) was a British Lieutenant General .

Life

Parsons completed an officer training and in 1870 became a lieutenant in the Royal Artillery . After his promotion to captain in 1880 he was adjutant of the auxiliary forces between 1881 and 1889 and was promoted as such to major in 1886 . In 1896 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and after his promotion to colonel in 1900 he was a colonel in the staff of the troops in South Africa , where he participated in the Battle of Colenso on December 15, 1899 and the Battle of Spion Kop on 23/24 during the Second Boer War . January 1900 as well. On his return he was Colonel on the Troop Staff in the Salisbury Plain District between 1901 and 1903 .

In 1903 Parsons was promoted to major general and served from 1903 to 1906 as inspector general of the artillery of the British Indian Army and then as the successor to Major General William George Knox between 1906 and 1907 as commander of the 8th Infantry Division (8th Infantry Division) . In 1907 he replaced Major General Theodore Stephenson as commander of the 6th Infantry Division stationed in Cork and remained in this position until he was replaced by Major General Charles Theophilus Evelyn Metcalfe in 1909. In 1909 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and then left active Military service. On June 14, 1912 he was beaten Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) and has since had the addition of "Sir".

After the beginning of the First World War Parsons was recalled to active military service and took over the post as commander of the 16th Irish Division (16th (Irish) Division) . In 1915 he retired from active service, but in 1917 was still Colonel Commandant of the Royal Artillery .
