Cookin 'on 3 Burners is an Australian Soul - and radio - Trio from Melbourne . The band made their breakthrough in 2016 with the song This Girl . That at that time seven-year old song was by the French deep house - DJ Kungs remixed and reached # 1 in France and Germany.

Band history

Cookin 'on 3 Burners was founded in 1997 by Jake Mason ( Hammond organ ), Dan West ( guitar ) and Ivan Khatchoyan ( drums ). The trio's Hammond-heavy soul music was based on the music of the 1960s / 1970s from the start. In 2002 their first 7 " Gravel Rash / Pie Warmer was released on the label Bamboo Shack . The debut album Baked, Broiled & Fried followed on the British label Freestyle Records in 2007. In 2009 they had a small hit on the British iTunes with the song This Girl - R&B charts.

Two more albums followed, as well as a live album on the British label. In 2016 the French house DJ Kungs remixed the song This Girl , which became a summer hit and reached chart positions in many countries, including number 1 in Germany and France .

style

The trio plays a mix of soul, funk and jazz, which is based on the music of the 1960s / 1970s. For albums and live performances, the band draws on many different guest singers and musicians, including Daniel Merriweather , Tex Perkins , Kylie Auldist , Harry James Angus from Cat Empire and Jason Heerah from Electric Empire . The band has performed with Quantic , Alice Russell , Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Fat Freddy's Drop , among others .
