Copernicus Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Copernicus Association for History and Regional Studies West Prussia eV is a West Prussian history association and publisher founded in 1961 with headquarters in Münster, Westphalia . It has been publishing articles on the history of West Prussia since 1967 , which since 2010 have been combined with the journal Preußenland to form the Preußenland yearbook , and since 1984 has published a continuation of the series Sources and Representations on the History of West Prussia, which has been in existence since 1899 . Since 2001 , volumes 1 to 21 published in Danzig have been reprinted at irregular intervals.

In addition to educational conferences organized by the Copernicus Association, which bring people from Germany and Poland together with a view to West Prussia, preferably in northern Germany, and a long-term relationship with the West Prussian State Museum in Warendorf , the Copernicus Association has increasingly also opened up scientific questions. It therefore works with the Historical Commission for East and West Prussian State Research , runs a small but fine scholarship program, awards annual sponsorship prizes for successful theses and doctoral theses, and occasionally sponsors specialist conferences on topics of West Prussian history and regional studies.
