Copiapoa dealbata is a species of plant in the genus Copiapoa in the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet dealbata comes from Latin and means 'whitewashed' or 'whitewashed'.

description

Copiapoa dealbata grows strongly from the base, declining and forming dense cushions that are up to one meter high and two meters in diameter. The spherical to short cylindrical shoots are gray and measure 6 to 16 centimeters in diameter. The 15 to 33  ribs narrow between the areoles . The straight, stiff needle thorns are black. A central spine two to five centimeters long (sometimes missing) and one to seven radial spines are distinguished.

The yellow flowers are 2.8 to 3.5 inches long. The greenish red fruits have few scales.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Copiapoa dealbata is distributed in Chile in the Región de Atacama north and south of Carrizal Bajo near the coast.

It was first described in 1959 by Friedrich Ritter . Synonyms are Copiapoa dealbata var. Carrizalensis (F.Ritter) AEHoffm. (1989), Copiapoa cinerea var. Dealbata (F. Ritter) Backeb. (1962), Copiapoa cinerea subsp. dealbata (F.Ritter) Slaba (1997) and Copiapoa dealbata f. gigantea (F.Ritter) AEHoffm. (1989).

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
