Copley is the name of an underground light rail station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Back Bay in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It offers access to branches B , C , D and E of the Green Line underground tram at the eponymous Copley Square .
history
The station opened on October 3, 1914 as part of the Boylston Street Subway , an extension of the Tremont Street Subway . In the course of renovations at the beginning of the 21st century, the wrought iron entrance building next to the Boston Public Library was also completely restored.

There is a connection to eight MBTA bus lines at the station. In the immediate vicinity are Copley Square , the Boston Public Library , the John Hancock Tower , Trinity Church and the Old South Church .
