Hynes Convention Center is the name of an underground light rail station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Back Bay in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . At the eponymous Hynes Convention Center, it offers access to branches B , C and D of the Green Line underground tram .
history
The station opened on October 3, 1914 under the name Massachusetts as part of the Boylston Street Subway , an extension of the Tremont Street Subway . In 1965 the station was renamed the Auditorium and in 1990 it was finally renamed the Hynes Convention Center / ICA . After the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) moved from nearby Boylston Street to new premises in November 2006 , the "ICA" addition was removed from all signs on the station.

The subway station is located at 100 Massachusetts Avenue at 360 Newbury Street and is not wheelchair accessible as it is one of the last not yet renovated stations on the MBTA network.
The east exit on Boylston Street is usually closed. The exception is Patriots' Day , on which the exit will open to provide additional capacity for participants and visitors to the Boston Marathon .

There is a connection to three MBTA bus lines at the station. There are the in the immediate area - also on the stations Prudential the Green Line E or Back Bay of the Orange Line achievable - Prudential Center , the Hynes Convention Center , the Berklee College of Music , the Boston Conservatory and the Boston Architectural College . There are also many shopping opportunities in neighboring Newbury Street .
