The VIII. Coppa della Sila took place on July 23, 1933 on a circuit around the Calabrian city of Cosenza .

The race

The racing event, which was organized for the first time in 1924, took its name from the Sila mountain range in the Calabrian province of Cosenza . The circuit was 144 km long and led from Consenza over mountain roads and the places on the plateau back to the starting point. The route had to be driven through completely three times. The idea for races came from the local surgeon Giuseppe Catalani.

After the 1930 race , won by Luigi Arcangeli in an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS , there was no event for two years. In 1933 the length of the route was reduced to 126.655 km; again three laps had to be covered. After Guido d'Ippolito had finished second in 1930, he won in 1933 by three minutes ahead of Renato Balestrero .
