Antonio Brivio
Antonio Brivio Sforza (born December 27, 1905 in Biella , † January 30, 1995 in Milan ) was an Italian automobile racing driver , bobsleigh driver and motorsport official.
Career
Brivio came from the family of the Sforza and started his motorsport career in 1927. From 1932 he was part of the factory team of Alfa Romeo , whose operations in 1935 by the Scuderia Ferrari were performed and for which he many Grands Prix and sports car racing denied.
His greatest successes in the sports car sector include a victory in the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race ( 1932 ), two victories in the Targa Florio ( 1933 and 1935 ) and a victory in the Mille Miglia ( 1936 ). His greatest successes in Grand Prix races were third places at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1935 and the 1936 German Grand Prix . He also took part in the bobsleigh competitions at the 1936 Winter Olympics. After his marriage in 1937, he gave up motorsport.
After the Second World War he became a motorsport official, he became a member of the Italian automobile club and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), where he was involved in the introduction of the Formula 1 world championship.
Brivio died shortly before his 90th birthday in 1995.
