As a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, DB Systemtechnik is an engineering company . As such, it is responsible for services in the field of rail technology .
It is not only active within the group, but also internationally for external companies.
history
DB Systemtechnik is in part a successor company to the former central railway offices , which were dissolved in the course of the railway reform in 1995. The research and technology center (FTZ) was also integrated into the company. In September 2011 the company was spun off into an independent GmbH .
In April 2013 it received approval as a railway company .
Since 2018, the company has also been recognized by the Federal Railway Authority as an independent assessment body for safety risks (assessment body) for the areas of railway operation and maintenance of railway vehicles (ECM).
On April 1, 2018, it was integrated into the Technology / Digitization department.
tasks
The company deals with a wide range of engineering services from all areas of technical rail operations. These include services in the field of vehicle technology, infrastructure, maintenance and construction. In addition, it is entrusted with the testing and approval of the developed technical solutions.
Locations
DB Systemtechnik operates at a total of nine locations. The largest locations are in Minden and Munich , where a total of almost 300 people are employed. Another large location is in Kirchmöser ( Brandenburg an der Havel ). The company has offices in almost all cities with larger Deutsche Bahn depots. In addition, through its subsidiaries ESG and RAL, DB Systemtechnik also has branches in Derby (Great Britain) and Paris (France).
vehicles
In order to be able to provide corresponding services, the company also owns numerous vehicles with which measurement and test drives can be carried out. The following locomotives are in use for DB Systemtechnik:
- two locomotives of the class 120 (120 153 and since 2016 the 120 125)
- a class 182 locomotive (182 506)
- For measurement and test drives in the high-speed range: ICE S , which is designed for a theoretical speed of 400 km / h
- A class 612 multiple unit (612 901/902) is available for inclination test drives .
- An ICE-TD multiple unit (605 017) (as " Advanced TrainLab "), a second train (605 019) serves as a donor vehicle for spare parts
