The 24th Targa Florio , also XXIV Targa Florio , in Sicily was a circuit race over seven laps with a total distance of 504 kilometers on the Piccolo circuito delle Madonie . It was held on closed, otherwise public roads and took place on May 28, 1933.

The race

In 1933 the sole rule of Targa founder Vincenzo Florio ended . Florio, who comes from an influential and wealthy family in Palermo , had acted more and more arbitrarily and thus incurred the discouragement of Sicilian politicians. In 1933 the Italian Automobile Club, which had a branch in Palermo, took over the organization of the race.

In 1933, with the exception of three Bugattis, only Alfa Romeo vehicles were at the start. Only five of the 14th vehicles started were included in the ranking; all rated racing cars were exclusively Alfa Romeos. The victory went to Antonio Brivio , who politicized an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza from Scuderia Ferrari .
