The ninth Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race , also known as the Belgian Touring Car Grand Prix, 24 heures de Spa , took place on July 10th and 11th, 1932.
The race
In addition to the Le Mans 24-hour race , which was held for the first time in 1923, the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race established another 24-hour race in Europe at the beginning of the 1920s. In 1924 officials of the Royal Automobile Club Belgium took up the idea of a 24-hour race and looked for a suitable venue. The driving forces within the club were Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem. It was decided to hold the race on a 14.863 km long course on public roads between Francorchamps , Malmedy and Stavelot , where races had been held since 1922 and which would go down in motorsport history as the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps .
The race of 1932 is of particular importance for Scuderia Ferrari in terms of motorsport history. Ferrari's trademark, a jumping horse on a yellow background (Italian: "Cavallino rampante"), was affixed to the racing team's racing cars for the first time during this race.
In the race, which was held in four racing classes, the two Scuderia-Ferrari- Alfa Romeo 8C 2300MM with the jumping horse were successful. The duo Antonio Brivio and Eugenio Siena won ahead of their teammates Piero Taruffi and Guido d'Ippolito .
