Raphaël Georges Marquis Béthenod de Montbressieux , called Raph , (born February 8, 1910 in Buenos Aires , † June 16, 1994 in Neuilly-sur-Marne , Seine-Saint-Denis department ) was a French-Argentinian racing driver.

Career

The son of a French count and an Argentine woman began his racing career in the USA before he came to Europe in 1935 and achieved good success with an Alfa Romeo for Raymond Sommer's private team. After a serious accident at the 24-hour race at Le Mans in 1937 , he concentrated on Voiturette races.

Between 1942 and around 1944 he ran Automobiles Électraph in Cannes .

After World War II , Raph competed in two racing seasons with Maserati and finished third at the Albi Grand Prix in 1946 . In 1948 he bought a Talbot , but had a serious accident in Albi. A skull fracture, combined with memory interruptions, never allowed him to return to the old form. After a few tentative attempts in 1950 he ended his career and worked as a chauffeur and car rental company on the Riviera .
