Copper Cylinder Award
The Copper Cylinder Award is a 2012 Called into being, annually by the Sunburst Award Society award Canadian literary award . It is awarded to the best novels or short story collections from the entire field of fantasy published for the first time in English by Canadian authors last year . The name of the award refers to the novel A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder by James De Mille , published in 1888 , which is considered to be the first Canadian science fiction novel. The winners receive an engraved copper cylinder as a trophy.
The Sunburst Award , which has an analog structure, has existed since 2001 and, unlike the Copper Cylinder Award , its winners are determined by a jury.
