Coranus griseus is a type of bug from the family of predatory bugs (Reduviidae). Coranus griseus has long beenconfusedwith Coranus aegyptius in southern Europe and Asia Minor, a similar species found in the Canary Islands, North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
features
The bugs are 9 to 10 millimeters long. They are gray-brown to black-gray in color. The abdomen covered by the hemielytres is red. The scutellum has a yellowish keel with a blunt end spine. The connexive (part of the abdomen that is visible on the side) is light-dark piebald. The femora are banded light-dark.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed in southern and central Europe as well as in Asia Minor. The bugs are found on field mustard ( Sinapis arvensis ), oaks ( Quercus ), Virginian tobacco ( Nicotiana tabacum ), daffodils ( Narcissus ), Alhagi , cotton ( Gossypium ), the rice type Oryza sativa and beet ( Beta vulgaris ).

Coranus griseus is a predatory type of bug that prey on other insects.
etymology
The name addition griseus is derived from Latin and means "gray".
