Cornelia Falken (born November 12, 1956 in Heringsdorf ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and a member of the Saxon state parliament between 2004 and 2019 .

Life

Cornelia Falken has been married since 1977, has lived in Leipzig since then and has two grown children and four grandchildren. She worked as a primary school teacher since 1977, initially at the 38th POS Hans and Hilde Coppi in Leipzig-Gohlis , switched to the August Bebel School in Leipzig-Reudnitz in 1986 and to the Wiederitzsch primary school in 2001 . From 1984 to 1990 she was the deputy director of her schools. From 1990 she became a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW). In 1997 she was elected to the district staff council at the regional school authority in Leipzig and was always confirmed in subsequent elections. From 2000 to 2014 she was chairwoman of the GEW district association with the largest number of members in Germany, the district association of the city of Leipzig. Since February 2016 she has been the district chairwoman of the Leipzig district association.

politics

As a non-party candidate, Falken made it into the Saxon state parliament for the first time in the 2004 state elections on list position 4 on the state list PDS Saxony. She also successfully ran for the successor party Die Linke in the two following state elections in 2009 and 2014, ranking third and fifth respectively. She is the educational policy spokesperson for her group . In the state election in 2019 , they did not stand more of a mandate.

In 2006 she joined the party Die Linke. From 2009 to 2014 she was one of the deputy state chairmen of her party in Saxony.
