Cornelia Meyer

Cornelia Judith Hedwig Meyer (born December 20, 1959 ; resident in Bern and Bremgarten AG ) is a Swiss economist and journalist. She became known to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting upheavals on the oil market and lives in Langenthal in Aargau .

Career

Meyer, who speaks seven languages, studied economics at the University of St. Gallen and the London School of Economics and received her doctorate in 1990 from the University of Tokyo.

Meyer grew up as the daughter of a forester in Langenthal in Aargau. After completing her studies, she entered banking at UBS in 1990 , worked as chief economist at Citi and then worked for years in the oil industry - including at General Electric and BP . She then started her own business in London in 2010 as an independent consultant and energy expert. She analyzed for international media and TV stations such as the BBC , CNBC and CNN and published in numerous Swiss media - especially on the oil market. She was a member of the Global Agenda Council on Energy Security of the World Economic Forum . Meyer has also been chairwoman and chief economist at the independent asset manager LBV Asset Management since 2015 .
