Cornelia Popa

Cornelia Popa (born Popescu; born August 27, 1950 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian high jumper and pentathlete .

In 1968 she won bronze in the pentathlon at the European Junior Games in Leipzig and came 22nd at the Olympic Games in Mexico City .

In the high jump she won silver at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1970 in Vienna. In 1971 she won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Sofia and silver at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she came in 19th place. At the European Indoor Championships in 1974 in Gothenburg she was fourth, at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal eighth and at the European Athletics Cup in 1977 in Helsinki third.

An out of qualification at the 1978 European Championship in Prague was followed by eighth place at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
