Cornelia Rainer

Cornelia Maria Rainer (born 1982 in Lienz ) is an Austrian director .

Career

Cornelia Maria Rainer studied theater studies, philosophy and French at the University of Vienna , the Sorbonne Nouvelle and the University Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint Denis as well as classical solo singing at the École Nationale de Musique de Pantin in Paris. She graduated from international directorial studios at the Théátre des Bouffes du Nord and the Avignon Festival . She was also a visiting student at the Beijing Opera School in Taipei . This was followed by internships and assistant directorships at the Tyrolean Festival Erl, at the Théâtre de l'Atalante Paris and at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. From 2005 to 2009 she was assistant director at the Burgtheater Vienna.

It was there that her first productions were created. Since 2009 she has worked as a freelance director and has staged at the Bregenz Festival , the Burgtheater Vestibül and Kasino, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, the Young Directors Project of the Salzburg Festival, the Stadttheater Klagenfurt , the Tyrolean Festival Erl , the Theater an der Wien an der Oper Trier, at the Festival Wien Modern, at the Théâtre du Rond Point, and at the Center Dramatique National de Rouen. Her productions have been invited to the Vienna Academy Theater , the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg and the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival .

With her own theater company, Theater Montagnes Russes, Rainer realized a number of projects; in 2016 she was invited to the Festival d'Avignon (IN) with her production ' Lenz .

In Vienna, Rainer heads the TMR / International Masterclass Program and the TMR / Theater and Film Academy for children and young people in the TMR / Studio.

Rainer also worked as a guest lecturer at the Impulstanz Festival Vienna, at the Institute for Music Theater at the University of Art Graz and at the Vienna Conservatory Private University .
