Cornelis Simon Meijer (born August 17, 1904 in Pieterburen ; † April 12, 1974 ) was a Dutch mathematician who dealt with analysis .

From 1924 Meijer studied mathematics at the University of Groningen with Bartel Leendert van der Waerden and Johannes van der Corput , graduating in 1929. He received his doctorate in 1933 in Groningen with van der Corput (asymptotic developments of Bessel, Hankel and related functions, determination of numerical upper bounds of the remaining link using the saddle point method). From 1946 he was professor of mathematics in Groningen, where he retired in 1972.

He is best known for the Meijer G function , which he introduced in 1936 and which contains many special functions as special cases. In 1940/41 he also introduced a generalization of the Laplace transformation, which is named after him (Meijer transformation, an integral transformation based on the G-function) and dealt with integral representations, asymptotic developments and the associated error estimates for special functions such as the Bessel - and Whittaker functions.
