Cornelius C. Kubler

Cornelius C. Kubler (* 1951 ) is a Professor of Asian Studies at Williams College .

He studied at Cornell University , where he received his BA in Linguistics and Chinese in 1972 and his MA in Linguistics in 1975 . He then completed a master’s degree in Chinese literature from National Taiwan University in 1978 and obtained his Ph.D. in linguistics from Cornell University in 1981. Since 1991 he has been Professor of Asian Studies at Williams College . In 2012, Kubler and Ping Wang discovered that the main motif from Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly was based on the Chinese folk song Shiba Mo.
