Cornelius Nestler
Cornelius Nestler (* formerly Nestler-Tremel; * October 26, 1955 in Oberhausen ) is a German legal scholar and professor of criminal law at the University of Cologne .

Course
Nestler completed his schooling with the Abitur at the Ev. State school at the gate and worked from 1983 to 1988 at the Institute for Criminal Sciences at the University of Frankfurt am Main . This was followed by a legal clerkship at the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court . He practiced as a criminal defense lawyer and drug policy advisor. In 1992 he became a research assistant at the Institute for Criminal Science at the University of Frankfurt and completed his habilitation in 1996 in Frankfurt. In 1997 he took over a professorship at the Law Faculty of the University of Cologne.
Co-plaintiff representative for former concentration camp prisoners
Nestler was a joint plaintiff's representative in criminal trials against former SS men and guards at concentration camps. He represented the interests of Nazi victims in the court proceedings against John Demjanjuk ( Regional Court Munich II ; 2009-2011 ), Oskar Gröning (Regional Court Lüneburg; 2015), Reinhold Hanning (Regional Court Detmold; 2016), Johann Rehbogen (Regional Court Münster; 2018 ) and Bruno Dey (Hamburg Regional Court; 2019).
Nestler also represented the Nazi victim Walter Plywasky, who was a joint plaintiff in the trial against the former SS medic Hubert Z.
Other engagement
Nestler is a member of the Schildower Kreis , an expert network that argues against the prohibition of certain drugs that are subject to the Narcotics Act in Germany .
