Cornelius Torp

Cornelius Torp (born July 30, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a German historian .

Life

Torp studied history, economics and sociology at Bielefeld University . In 1997 he became a research associate in the special research area “History of the Bourgeoisie” at Bielefeld University. In 2001 he conducted research as a visiting scholar in the Department of International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science . In 2004 he received his doctorate in "History" from the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg . From 2007 to 2008 he was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute , Florence . From 2009 to 2011 he was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of History and Civilization and at the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies, European University Institute. From 2011 to 2012 he was a fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies ( FRIAS ), School of History, at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg im Breisgau . From 2001 to 2014 he was a research assistant / assistant at the Institute for History at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. In 2014 he completed his habilitation there. He represented chairs in Augsburg , Berlin and Munich . Since 2019 he has been teaching as a professor (W3) for modern and contemporary history at the University of Bremen .
