Coronado Chávez (born November 8, 1807 in Ciudad de Comayagua , † June 22, 1881 ibid) was President of Honduras between January 12, 1845 and January 1, 1847 .

Life

His mother was María Mercedes Chavez. Coronado Chávez was Foreign Minister in the government cabinet of Francisco Ferrera in 1843 .

He was executive president from November 27, 1843 to December 8, 1843, from September 30 to November 26, 1844 as deputy for Francisco Ferrera .

From May 28 to July 27, 1844 Ferrera handed over the management to his government cabinet of Casto Alvarado and Coronado Chávez and carried out a punitive expedition against the rebellious areas in Texiguat and Tegucigalpa .

On September 30, 1844, Ferrera returned the presidency to his government cabinet, devoted himself to the war in Malespín , had Honduran exiles from the group around José Francisco Morazán Quezada persecuted in Nicaragua, and on November 23, 1844, León (Nicaragua) was plundered and set on fire.

A rebellion in Tegucigalpa was put down under the command of Joaquín Rivera in late 1844.

From January 1, 1845 to January 12, 1845 Coronado Chávez led the affairs of state with Casto José Alvarado and then became President of Honduras.

Presidency

Chávez stimulated the cultivation of coffee, had advertising brochures printed and exempted those who had coffee cultivation from military service, the Diezmo and first levies of church tax. The tax advantages were limited to 10 years.

He had wickerwork and the manufacture of hats encouraged. On December 14, 1845, he opened the Sociedad del Genio Emprendedor y el Buen Gusto in Tegucigalpa. On March 10, 1846, he founded a Sociedad Literaria de Honduras and on September 19, 1847 the Universidad Nacional (Honduras) | Universidad Nacional .

From January to August 1839 he was in the government cabinet of Francisco Ferrera Ministro General . From May 1943 to January 1844 he was Foreign Minister in the government cabinet of Francisco Ferrera . He then became government minister under Ferrera and in his absence he presided over the government cabinet.

In his attempt to get Francisco Malespín back into the presidency of El Salvador, he provoked a war with El Salvador. By decree of May 26, 1845, he declares war on El Salvador . The conflict was settled in 1847 with the Tratado de Sesentín .

On October 1, 1845, he upgraded Choluteca to Ciudad (city).

As part of the implementing regulations for censorship, he decreed that four copies of all printed works were to be sent to the government office for the archive.

Ordered that abandoned goods become the property of the Treasury Department and issued passports for the citizens of Honduras. He granted a general pardon to all participants in the uprising of San José de Texiguat . From June to August 1846 he visited eastern Honduras to find out about the situation.

Government cabinet

He was a delegate from Honduras to the Central American Parliament in Nacaome in June and October 1847.

In 1850 he went into exile with Francisco Ferrera, settled in El Salvador for many years, returned to Comayagua and devoted himself to carpentry.

In December 1865 he became Minister of Finance and War in the government cabinet of Crescencio Gómez .

In 1865 and 1874 he was presiding judge of the Comayagua court.
