Coordinates: 35 ° 59 ' S , 146 ° 23' O Corowa Shire was a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area was 2,324 km² and last had about 11,000 inhabitants. In 2016, the newly created Federation Council took over.
Corowa was located in the south of the state on the Murray River on the border with Victoria about 400 km west of the Australian capital Canberra and 610 km southwest of Sydney and 300 km northeast of Melbourne . The area comprised 19 hamlets and hamlets: Brawlin, Carinyah, Cootamundra, Cullinga, Dudauman, Frampton, Gundibindyal, Jindalee, Kilrush, Kyron, Landgrove, Meemar, Morrisons Hill, Stockinbingal, Wallendbeen, Willows, Yannawah, Yeo Jugiong and part of Yeo Jugiong . The headquarters of the Shire Council was in the village of Corowa on the Murray, where around 5,300 people now live.

The Corowa Shire Council has ten members who are elected by LGA residents. Corowa is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
